It's not about the gear.

Every year, companies like to release a new edition of their products. Apple, for instance, releases at least a new iPhone per year. It’s easy to get carried away with the products presented to us, as it’s always advertised that every product is the best one in the market. I mean, after all, the goal for these companies is to make profit, right?

I’m going to be honest here: I don’t have the most expensive camera equipment in the world. Whenever someone asks me what camera I use, it’s usually a surprise to them that I'm equipped with an entry-level Nikon DSLR and my handy-dandy 18-55 mm kit lens. It’s not the best, but it’s not the worst either. But still, I’d be lying if I said that I’ve never wanted to upgrade my camera. Again, companies shove these advertisements in your face, saying you’ll be a much better photographer by buying a $3000 camera. To contradict this idea, I dug up some of the photos I took on my iPhone. No special, expensive lens, or camera body from some fancy-shmancy company; just an iPhone 6s (or even older, since some of these photos are at least two years old).
